About Us

We are a little operation—two friends who spend the rest of our time with kids and as rehab therapists (speech/language and physical therapy). A few years ago, we started dabbling in creating the perfect hair tie as a project with our two young daughters, Alex and Isabelle (also best pals). We all became experts in dyeing and tying in no time.

Our goal was to have some fun while teaching the girls a little bit about finances. Our deal was that they would donate half of the income to a local children's cancer foundation and put the other half toward horseback riding lessons (or maybe a toy!). The girls call themselves “Hold Your Horses” with the slogan “Ponytails with a Purpose.”


They spent several mornings selling at local events and got quite a following. By the end of the summer, they made a $300 donation to the Connor B Turnbaugh Foundation (financial support for local families living with childhood cancer) and paid for 3 lessons each! In keeping with tradition, each November at the foundation’s annual event, the girls present a portion of our donation in person.

We have been thrilled to find that everyone loves the ties as much as we do! The girls continue to host local sales while the Moms head up retail sales.
